Tattoo & Piercing Healing Tracker

How to use every part of the tracker: timeline, daily log and photos, trends and alerts, jewelry and product checks, reports, and the tattoo touch-up planner.

Overview

The Tattoo & Piercing Healing Tracker is a free tool from Poli International for studio clients, piercers and tattoo artists. It combines a stage-by-stage healing timeline, a daily healing log with photos, symptom trend analysis, aftercare checklists, product screeners and a tattoo touch-up planner in one page.

Everything runs in your browser. There is no account, and your entries and photos are saved in this browser's local storage on your device. Nothing is sent to a server. The tool is available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch and Portuguese.

This tool does not diagnose. It organises what you observe and shows typical healing patterns. If something worries you, contact your piercer, your tattoo artist or a doctor.

Who it is for

The Healing Tracker tab

1. Set up your healing journey

  1. Choose Piercing or Tattoo.
  2. Pick the placement. You can use the interactive body map (click or tab to a region, then press Enter) or the lists: 54 piercing placements, or 16 tattoo placements plus a tattoo size (small, medium or large).
  3. Enter the procedure date and, if you like, a custom name such as "Left conch".
  4. Optionally add a Day 0 baseline photo. It becomes the reference for later comparisons.
  5. Click Start Tracking My Healing.

When you select a placement that gets a lot of sun (face, ears, neck, hands, shoulders and similar), a sun exposure advisory explains how to protect the area while it heals.

2. Your healing timeline

Shows the typical healing time for your placement, the day of healing you are on, and each healing stage with what to expect and how to care for it. The stage you are in now is highlighted, and the same stage appears as the current phase in the side panel. Cartilage and other placements prone to irritation bumps include a healing disc recommendation.

3. Check your current symptoms

Tick any of the 15 listed symptoms and click Assess My Symptoms. The result is grouped as normal healing, monitor closely, or concerning. Anything in the concerning group (for example red streaks, fever over 38.3°C / 101°F, green or foul discharge) means you should contact a professional promptly.

4. Today's aftercare checklist

A daily checklist matched to piercings or tattoos. Reset Today's Checklist clears the ticks for the next day. Below it:

5. Daily healing log

Click Log Today's Entry and rate redness, swelling, tenderness and discharge from 0 to 3. For piercings you can also rate how tight the jewelry feels. Add a photo and notes if you want. Photos are compressed and their location data is removed before saving.

If your ratings are higher than last time, the log asks what changed (knocked it, slept on it, new jewelry, new product, swimming, gym, another piercing nearby, other). It records the likely trigger; it does not diagnose.

A storage meter shows how much browser space is left. When space runs low you can drop the oldest photos while keeping every rating and note.

6. Milestone gallery and photo comparison

7. Symptom severity comparison

Choose any two log entries. A bar chart shows each rating side by side, each symptom is marked improved, stable or elevated, and the total score (out of 12) is compared.

8. Healing and symptom calendar

A month view of your log. Each logged day shows a coloured dot for its highest rating and its healing day number. The header counts days logged, your current run of consecutive days, and your peak discomfort day. Click a day to see its entries.

9. Symptom trends over time

Once you have at least two entries, a chart plots redness, swelling, tenderness and discharge over time, with a short sentence describing each trend.

10. Alerts

Both alerts recommend an in-person check with your piercer or tattoo artist. They are prompts to get looked at, not a diagnosis.

11. Piercing tension gauge (piercings only)

Uses the tightness ratings from your log. It shows the current level (0 normal, 1 snug, 2 moderately tight, 3 constricting) and counts consecutive tight days. If tightness lasts more than 7 days it advises a studio visit to check the post length or plan downsizing.

12. Jewelry longevity and downsizing calculator (piercings only)

Starts from your tracked placement and procedure date. Choose the jewelry material and closure type to see:

BioFlex® body jewelry (PP-R random copolymer) is treated as suitable for long-term wear: inspect it at every check and replace it if it is scratched, bent or discoloured, as you would any jewelry.

13. Healing health report

Generate Health Report builds a summary of your procedure, the current and peak ratings, the trajectory, any trend alert, and every logged entry. You can print it or save it as PDF, copy it as text, or download a text file to share with your studio or doctor.

14. Healing journey snapshot

Generate Infographic draws a single image with your procedure, days elapsed, progress, number of entries and your baseline and latest photos. Download it as PNG or copy it to send to your artist or piercer.

15. Product allergy and sensitivity screener

Choose the product category (ointment or balm, piercing cleanser, barrier film, daily lotion, antiseptic soap), read the guidance for that category, and answer six questions about your history (reactions to antibiotic ointments, adhesives, fragrances, lanolin or latex, harsh ingredients, eczema near the site). The result is a low, moderate or high sensitivity risk with the reasons, and a patch test method for moderate and high results.

16. Product ingredient scanner

Paste an ingredient list or try a sample preset. The scanner checks each ingredient against its list of known contact allergens, drying alcohols, occlusives and cytotoxic ingredients and shows what it matched, why it matters and a suggested alternative. A clean result only means nothing on its list was found. It is not proof that a product is safe.

17. Backup and restore

Export all your pieces, entries and photos to a JSON file, for example to move from phone to computer. When restoring you can replace everything or merge the backup with what is already there.

The Touch-Up Timeline tab (tattoos)

All projections are estimates based on typical fading patterns. Your artist's assessment of the actual tattoo comes first.

Privacy

Entries, photos, reminders and preferences are stored in your browser's local storage on this device only. Nothing is uploaded. Clearing your browser data deletes them, so use Backup and restore if you want to keep a copy.

Frequently asked questions

Can I track more than one piercing or tattoo?

Yes. Each procedure you start keeps its own log and photos. To return to one, set it up again with the same type, placement and date.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. Everything is calculated and stored in your browser.

The tool shows a concerning result. What should I do?

Contact your piercer, tattoo artist or a doctor promptly. With a piercing, do not remove the jewelry on your own if an infection is suspected: removing it can close the channel and trap the infection. Ask a professional first.

Why is a stage highlighted in my timeline?

It is the stage your procedure date places you in. Healing speed varies from person to person, so use it as a guide, not a deadline.
