How to use it

Selecting your regulatory jurisdiction

1. Locate the toolbar labeled Select Studio Jurisdiction / Region:.
2. Click United Kingdom, European Union, United States, or Australia.
3. Review the jurisdiction note detailing regional inspecting bodies.

Setting item readiness statuses

1. Open the Readiness Checklist tab.
2. Review the regulatory citation under Regulating body / standard: and evidence location under Where evidence is kept:.
3. In Status:, select Ready, Not yet, or Not applicable. Clicking an active status resets it to Not checked.

Accessing companion Poli evidence tools

1. Locate items displaying Open Poli Evidence Tool.
2. Click Open Poli Evidence Tool to launch the specialized recordkeeping tool.
3. Complete your records and mark the item as Ready.

Monitoring preparation counts

1. Review the metrics bar displaying Total Items, Ready, Still to Prepare, Not Applicable, and Unchecked.
2. Read the summary notice: This tool tracks preparation and evidence location. It does not calculate a score or certify compliance.

Reviewing items still to prepare

1. Click Items Still to Prepare to view pending tasks.
2. Complete each outstanding physical or administrative requirement.
3. Click Ready until the screen confirms No items currently marked "Not yet ready".

Generating and printing the inspection binder index

1. Click Inspection Binder Index or Print Inspection Binder Index.
2. Enter your facility name in Studio Name: (Enter your studio name).
3. Review table columns: Domain, What Inspector Typically Checks, Regulatory Body / Standard, Evidence Location / Tool, Current Status, and Date Last Verified.
4. Click Print Inspection Binder Index to print or save as a PDF.

Resetting checklist statuses

1. Click Clear All Statuses.
2. Confirm the prompt: Are you sure you want to clear all your preparation statuses? This will reset all checklist entries in this browser.
3. All items return to Not checked.

Configuring display settings and embedding

1. Click Toggle dark mode to change themes.
2. Select your language from Language:.
3. Click Free Embed to open Use This Free Tool on Your Website and copy the embed code with Copy Code.

What it does not do

The tool excludes functions handled by dedicated tools or authorities:

• It does not calculate autoclave steam sterilisation cycles or spore incubation parameters. That is handled by the Autoclave Calculator.
• It does not log sharps container disposal weights or consignment notes. That is handled by the Sharps Disposal Tracker.
• It does not schedule staff bloodborne pathogen training renewals. That is handled by the BBP Training Tracker.
• It does not capture client digital signatures, medical histories, or age verification photos. That is handled by the Consent Form Builder.
• It does not calculate percentage scores or issue compliance certificates.
• It does not submit notices or applications to local authorities.

Where your data lives

All selections remain in your browser storage (localStorage) on your device. Nothing is transmitted to external servers.

The tool saves three keys:

• studio_inspection_readiness_status: A map of item IDs to statuses (ready, not_yet, or na).
• studio_inspection_readiness_region: The active jurisdiction code (uk, eu, us, or au).
• studio_inspection_readiness_studioname: The studio name entered for the binder index.

Data is cleared by clicking Clear All Statuses, deleting browser site data, or closing a private browsing window. An export via Print Inspection Binder Index creates a printout or PDF containing your studio name, region, date, and the item table with blank verification lines.

Printing and exporting

The Inspection Binder Index is formatted for physical inspection day:

• Print stylesheets remove header navigation, dark backgrounds, buttons, and embed panels.
• The document prints with high contrast black text on white paper in standard A4 or US Letter format.
• The table lists requirements by domain with governing standards, evidence locations, current status, and a Date Last Verified line for initials and date.
• You can print to paper for your physical ring binder or use your browser print-to-PDF feature for digital studio records.

Does completing this checklist mean my studio has passed its health inspection?

No, this tool is an internal preparation aid and evidence index rather than a regulatory certificate. Official compliance can only be granted by an authorized health officer during an in-person inspection of your studio. Marking items as ready helps you locate and verify required evidence beforehand.

All checklist statuses and studio names are stored exclusively in your browser local storage on your current device. No information is transmitted to external servers, and no user accounts are required. Clearing browser site data or using private browsing mode resets all saved entries.

How should I use the Inspection Binder Index on inspection day?

Print the binder index table and place it in the front sleeve of your studio physical inspection binder. When an inspector asks to review equipment logs or waste transfer notes, the index identifies where each record is stored. Staff can also initial and date each row as an internal audit.

Can I use this checklist for both tattoo studios and body piercing studios?

Yes, the checklist addresses hygiene, sanitation, waste management, and client recordkeeping common to both fields. Requirements that do not apply to your facility, such as autoclaves in disposable-only studios, can be marked not applicable. This keeps your active preparation list relevant.
