Studio Pricing Benchmark
Place your studio's prices against typical ranges in nine markets, and settle on your own numbers.
Overview
The Studio Pricing Benchmark lets a tattoo or piercing studio owner place their own prices against typical price ranges in nine markets, and settle on the numbers they want to charge. It shows ranges, never a "correct" price, and it gives no advice on what you should charge.
Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
1. Choose a Region
Pick one of nine markets: UK (national average), London / South East England, US (national average), Western Europe, Australia, Central & Eastern Europe, Canada, South America, and South East Asia. Prices switch to that region's currency.
Each region shows a short coverage note, explaining what the region's figures represent, and a Jewellery Inclusions note, explaining whether piercing prices typically include the starter jewellery.
2. Where the Figures Come From
Every row carries a confidence label:
- INDICATIVE: an editorial estimate compiled by Poli International from publicly listed prices. It is not survey data and has not been independently verified.
- GAP: no reliable figure exists, so the row is left blank rather than guessed.
Each row also has a short basis note describing what kind of price it is. Figures were last reviewed in September 2026. Premium specialists and fine-line artists routinely price above these ranges.
3. Compare Your Service Prices
The table lists tattoo and piercing services, from a small tattoo and a full day's sitting to lobe, nostril, helix, navel and septum piercings, each with its low-to-high range.
- Type your own price for any service in Your Price.
- Click Compare My Prices.
- Each service is placed as Below Market (under the range), Market Rate (within it) or Premium (above it). A service with no data shows Data Gap. A summary counts how many of your services fall in each position.
Clear All Rates empties every price you entered.
4. Your Rates
Enter the four numbers that define your studio:
- Hourly rate
- Minimum charge
- Shop minimum
- Deposit percentage
Choose a studio tier: Apprentice, Resident Artist, Established Artist, or Specialist / Guest Artist. The tier only adds a description of that kind of artist; it does not change any figure.
The panel shows whether your hourly rate and your shop minimum sit below, within or above the region's range.
5. What-If Rate Calculator
Move the slider from -20% to +30% to adjust your hourly rate, and set the length of a typical booking in hours (2 by default). The calculator shows:
- the adjusted hourly rate
- the price of that booking
- the deposit due on it, at your deposit percentage
It is arithmetic on your own numbers only. It does not predict what the market will do.
6. Your Numbers (Settings Handoff)
A plain-text block lists your hourly rate, minimum charge, shop minimum, deposit percentage and tier, ready to copy into your booking system or studio settings with the Copy button. It is labelled as your decision, not a recommendation from the tool. A field you have left blank shows a dash, never a default figure.
7. Printable Rate Card
Print a one-page Studio Rate Card (A4 or US Letter) from your own numbers and service prices, dated today. The card carries only your figures, not the regional ranges.
8. Visual Comparison Chart
After you compare, a bar chart plots your price for each service beside the range's low and high values. Filter it to All Procedures, Tattoo Only or Piercing Only.
9. Export CSV
Export CSV downloads the full comparison for a spreadsheet: region, service, currency, range, confidence, basis note, jewellery policy, your price and its position.
10. Saving, Languages and Embedding
- Your prices and rates are saved in your own browser, so they are still there next time. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.
- The interface is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese and Thai.
- The Embed tab gives a code snippet to place the tool on your own website.
11. Important Notice
This tool compares prices. It is not financial or business advice, and the ranges are editorial estimates, not a survey. Prices vary widely with experience, location, style and demand.
