Aftercare Schedule Generator

A printable piercing aftercare plan with real dates: which healing phase the piercing is in, what to do and avoid in that phase, when to downsize the jewellery and when healing should be complete.

01How to use it

  1. Choose the piercing type (earlobe, ear cartilage, daith / rook / snug / tragus, nostril, septum, labret / lip / monroe, tongue, navel, surface / dermal, nipple, genital).
  2. Enter the date of piercing. A future date is fine: a client booked for next week gets the plan from day one.
  3. Pick the current condition: normal, a small bump, redness or irritation, or unusual discharge.
  4. Optionally add the studio name and a contact line. They appear on the printed sheet.
  5. Press Generate my aftercare schedule. Then Print / Save as PDF to hand the client a sheet, or Add to calendar to download a calendar file with the reminders.

02The three healing phases

Each placement has its own timings. The tool counts the days since the piercing and places it in a phase:

PlacementPhase 1 endsPhase 2 endsExpected full healingSaline rinses in phase 1
Earlobeday 21day 90day 180twice daily
Ear cartilage (helix / flat)day 42day 180day 365twice daily
Daith / rook / snug / tragusday 42day 180day 365twice daily
Nostrilday 42day 120day 180twice daily
Septumday 42day 90day 180twice daily
Labret / lip / monroeday 42day 90day 180twice daily, plus mouth rinses
Tongueday 21day 56day 120three times daily, plus mouth rinses
Navelday 56day 180day 365twice daily

Nippleday 90day 180day 365twice daily
Genital (general)day 42day 120day 365twice daily

Oral placements (labret / lip / monroe, tongue) get extra mouth-rinse steps in each phase.

03Downsizing

The first bar is fitted long to leave room for swelling. The tool sets the downsize date at the end of phase 1, when swelling has settled: day 21 for a tongue, day 90 for a nipple. The date is worked out from the same table, so it can never disagree with the phases.

04Current condition

When a condition other than normal is chosen, the plan adds a short explanation: irritation bumps and their usual causes (pressure, snagging, badly fitting jewellery), when redness is expected and when it points to trauma or a new product, and how normal lymph crust differs from yellow, green or foul-smelling discharge.

The tool gives general aftercare guidance and is not a diagnosis. Healing varies between people. With signs of infection, such as spreading redness, fever, pus or severe swelling, the client should see a doctor promptly, and remove jewellery only on professional advice.

05Calendar file

Add to calendar downloads a standard .ics file that any calendar app can import: cleaning reminders, the start of phases 2 and 3, and the downsize date.

06Languages and privacy

The tool works in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese and Thai. Everything is worked out in the browser: nothing entered is sent anywhere, and nothing is stored.
