Medication Interaction Checker

A reference for clients, tattoo artists and piercers: how common medications, numbing creams, supplements and substances can affect bleeding, ink setting and healing, what to tell the artist, and when a client's own doctor should be asked first.

This tool is an educational reference only and does not constitute medical advice. Never stop or adjust prescribed medication without consulting the prescribing physician. Clients should always tell their tattoo artist or piercer about medications, health conditions and supplements before the procedure.

01Checker

Search by name or browse the categories: painkillers and NSAIDs, numbing creams, blood thinners, acne and retinoids, anti-anxiety and sedatives, hormones and HRT, ADHD and stimulants, diabetes and GLP-1, corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, supplements, and substances and lifestyle (for example alcohol and cannabis). Select everything the client takes: the results show the procedural risks, any waiting times and the precautions for the artist.

Where a reviewed study has been approved for an entry, its PubMed link is shown under the result.

02Supplements

Many people do not count fish oil, garlic capsules or ginkgo as medication and never mention them. The Supplements tab shows published interaction evidence between supplements and drugs from SUPP.AI (Allen Institute for AI). Only human and clinical studies are included and retracted papers are left out. The data is a saved snapshot: the tool makes no live call.

03Artist brief

A printable summary of the selected medications and the procedural recommendations, to hand to the artist or piercer. It can be printed, saved as a PDF, copied, or exported as a text or JSON file. The healing timeline shows how the selected medications may affect each stage of tattoo or piercing healing.

04Reminders and washout

Enter the appointment date and time to see the deadlines by which some medications or substances would need to be paused before the procedure, with live countdowns. The deadlines can be exported as a calendar file (.ics), opened in Google Calendar, or shown as browser notifications. A deadline is only a reference: pausing a prescribed medication is a decision for the prescribing doctor.

05Studio safety

The Artist & Piercer Readiness Self-Assessment asks three questions (the procedure, the medications or topicals the client disclosed, and further details) and builds a precautions checklist for the studio.

06Sharing and asking the doctor

07Languages and privacy

The tool works in English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Dutch, Portuguese and Thai. Nothing selected is sent to a server. The browser keeps the chosen language, recent searches and the self-assessment answers (local storage) on this device only.
